Biography

Jeannette Chau is a professional engineer with an MBA in marketing and strategic planning and holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation. She has worked for over 30 years in industry and has recently retired.

Ms Chau has served on several boards in the past, including as President of the Mississauga Arts Council, supporting the Arts in the sixth largest city in Canada.

She currently serves on the Board of the Professional Engineers Ontario Mississauga chapter, the Toronto Artillery Foundation, the Mississauga Board of Chinese Professionals and Businesses (CPB), and is an appointed member of the City of Mississauga Arts & Culture Grants Peer Assessment committee and a volunteer with the Engineers Canada Engineering Accreditation Board assessment teams.

Ms Chau is currently federally appointed as the Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel of the 7th Toronto Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery Reserves. She is the first female, and first visible minority Honorary to have been appointed to the Regiment. Ms Chau had also served in this unit in the past and had risen through the ranks to become their first female officer back in the 1980s.

Ms Chau is the author of two children’s books ‘My Mom is a Civil Engineer’ and ‘My Mom is an Electrical Engineer’ and recently published a book on the 155-year history of the 7th Toronto Regiment.

Ms Chau trains year-round on a national level competitive dragon boat team, and is an active runner, skier, and enjoys reading and attending theatre and cultural events.

She has been married for 30 years and has two adult children.
