Biography
Nathan Ip is the MLA for Edmonton-South West and the Shadow Minister for Technology and Innovation. Prior to his election to the Alberta Legislature, he served three terms as an Edmonton Public School Board Trustee, including as Vice-Chair, and became the first racialized person elected to the board in its 144-year history.
With a background in economic and community development, Nathan has long been a champion of public education, youth mental health, and inclusive community building. He previously led HEADSTRONG Alberta, Canada’s youth mental health leadership program. He has also been a steadfast advocate for Alberta’s Asian communities, supporting Edmonton’s Chinatown, advancing economic renewal, and speaking out against anti-Asian racism during the pandemic.
