Travel and accommodation considerations

  • Air Canada and WestJet offer limited flights to Kitchener Airport (YKF) (the regional airport of Waterloo), which is a 20-minute Uber/taxi ride to the University of Waterloo campus.
  • More flights are available to Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ). From here, take the GO bus (1.5-2 hours) or GO train (3.5-4 hours) to Waterloo.
  • Accommodations are available at the University of Waterloo residence. These are pod-style rooms (4 individual rooms with 2 shared washrooms). Booking is embedded in the registration form. Total cost is ~$186.00 for all three summit nights.
  • We have secured preferred rates for a near-by hotel if you prefer. Cost is ~$180.00 per night. For hotel booking details, contact events@acctfoundation.ca

Ages 18-30: GLOCAL X ACCT Participation Grant

Get Up to $800 in Financial Support through the GLOCAL X ACCT Grant!

Who:

Ages 18–30, Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee.

What You Could Get:

  • Registration fee waived ($200).
  • University of Waterloo campus accommodations waived (~$180).
  • Travel stipend provided on-site at the end of the summit based on the travel subsidy limits outlined below.

  1. Join National Youth Service Network:

  2. Apply for GLOCAL X ACCT Grant:

  3. Register for the summit:

    • Use code ACCTGLOCAL. Auto-waives fee and accommodations at UWaterloo residence.

IMPORTANT! All three steps must be complete. Otherwise, the GLOCAL X ACCT grant will not be processed.

Travel Subsidy Limits:

  • Participants will need to pay and arrange their own flight and local travel. A travel stipend will be provided based on the following limits:
    • Travel from Ontario – $100.00 [Toronto GTA, Brampton]
    • Ottawa – $150.00
    • Quebec, Manitoba – $250.00
    • Atlantic, Saskatchewan – $300.00
    • British Columbia, Alberta – $350.00

Ages 31+: ACCT Participation Subsidy

Get up to $800 in financial support through ACCT’s Participation Subsidy!

Who Can Apply for the Grant:

Applicants must demonstrate financial need. After tax, the annual income is $45,000 or less in the 2025 tax year,
and/or special circumstances and conditions.

What You Could Get:

  • Registration fee fully or partially waived (up to $200).
  • University of Waterloo campus accommodation fully or partially waived (up to $186).
  • Travel stipend provided on-site at the end of the summit based on the travel subsidy limits outlined below.

4 Simple Steps:

Approval required before registering for the summit and booking travel.

  1. Email application to events@acctfoundation.ca.
    The application must include:

    • 2024-2025 Notice of Assessment and/or proof of income, such as T4.
    • If income is greater than $45,000 per 2025 tax year, explanation of financial circumstances
      is required in the essay.
    • 1-3 page essay with the following information:

      • Age range (31-40, 41-50, 51-60, 61-70, 71 and above)
      • Are you a student and/or an early career professional in the sector?
        What area of study or sector?
      • Personal and professional aspirations and relevant training.
      • If income > $45,000, explain financial circumstances.
    • Current resume that outlines employment, education, and leadership activities.
  2. ACCT will email applicants to communicate approval, decline, or requests for more information.
  3. If approved, applicants will complete summit registration, including booking accommodations at the
    University of Waterloo’s residence.
  4. Approved applicants are expected to attend the full summit and maintain a reflective journal and
    participation log for submission after the summit.

*Subsidy amounts are capped and subject to available funding.
